Liberté, Koran & Lenin’s Pope

The Irony of Liberté

Dear Atila,

Salve Maria!

Regarding the Charlie Hebdo tragedy in France last week, I could not help but see the irony:

Fomenting the French Revolution were the cartoonists, satirists and editors who, through the pen, helped murder the Monarchy. Now, in our day some descendants of these same satirists and cartoonists have been murdered because of how they wielded that same pen of liberté.

God bless all at TIA and Happy New Year.

     in Jesus through Mary,

     A.H.

Blasphemous Magazine

Hello,

Je Suis Charlie (Hebdo)? or should it be "Je suis Charlie Martel!"

After reading Dr. Horvat's recent article on the Paris attacks, I find myself hoping that she is only ill-informed about the matter. …

A Catholic should never show solidarity with the work of, to be blunt, scum like the staff at this filthy, blasphemous magazine. Yes, Catholics should voice their opposition to Islam, the murders and the demographic takeover of parts of Europe by these people, but not, on the other hand, hold pens and defend this magazine's 'right' to publish obscene, blasphemous material. That is truly sickening and shows how sick Europe has become.

     Cordially,

Following the Koran

TIA,

“They” keep saying that not all Muslims are extremists. Well, if they are true Muslims they follow the Koran. The Koran is what is causing and has caused for 1500 years or more all the violence in the Muslim world against themselves and all other peoples.

The Koran teaches Muslims to be violent and destroy their enemies [which is all people who are not Muslim]. If Muslims want to prove that not all of them are this way then they have to start standing up en-masse against this type of violence! [Better yet, convert to Christianity!]

Lenin’s Pope

TIA,

I do sympathize with the author of "The Obama-Francis Axis: Conjuring Confusion over Cuba." Moscow during the 1960's referred to Cuba as our aircraft carrier in the Caribbean. And as most people - who were paying attention - know that the conniving Communists Castros spread Marxist-Leninism to Central and South America and some other places as well.

The Vatican and Francis in particular provided a fine example of mollycoddling Castro's Communist Cuba in the dying days of December 2014. Lenin himself could not have chosen a much better occupant for the Chair of Saint Peter.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.

Catholic & Ecumenical Carols

Dear TIA-Team,

I refer to your recent posting of the German Christmas carol “Es ist ein Ros entsprungen.”

I want to add in this regard that the German Bishop's Hymn Book ("Gotteslob") which has been in general use in Germany since the 1970s contains two versions of “Es ist ein Ros entsprungen”. One version is Catholic and the other ecumenical. In the Catholic version it says “Aus Gottes ew'gem Rat Hat sie ein Kind geboren Und blieb ein reine Magd.” (At God’s Immortal Word, She has borne a child, Remaining a pure Maid.), thus clearly professing the dogma of Mary's perpetual virginity.

The ecumenical version, however, has been modified as follows: “Aus Gottes ew'gem Rat Hat sie ein Kind geboren, welches uns selig macht.” (At God’s Immortal Word, She has borne a child that saves us).

So, if Catholics sing together, they may profess the Catholic Faith. If, however, they sing with Protestants, they are expected to suppress the Dogma. Post-conciliar Catholics, therefore, have a split-personality and must think Catholic as well as Ecumenical. Surely, there is something diabolical in here.

     Kind regards,

     F.W.R., Germany

Francis Recognized as Eco-Communist

TIA,

This is interesting as it is coming from Money Magazine Forbes. Even they are aware and speaking about the Marxist politics of Francis.

They don’t note he is following in Benedict’s footsteps, and most people don’t realize this. Your analysis of Benedict’s socialist encyclical, however, makes it clear that Francis is just carrying BOLDLY on with a policy already in place, I would say, since Vatican II.

Below are some excerpts from Steve Moore’s column aptly titled Vatican’s Turn to the Left Will Make the Poor Poorer:

     E.F.B.

Pope Francis – and I say this as a Catholic – is a complete disaster when it comes to his public policy pronouncements. On the economy, and even more so on the environment, the Pope has allied himself with the far left and has embraced an ideology that would make people poorer and less free.

Francis is reportedly preparing a lengthy encyclical message to the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics on the need for decisive action on climate change. He plans to speak before the UN general assembly on this subject later this year. The Pope recently declared that: “The monopolizing of lands, deforestation, the appropriation of water, inadequate agro-toxics are some of the evils that tear man from the land of his birth. Climate change, the loss of biodiversity and deforestation are already showing their devastating effects in the great cataclysms we witness.”

This is the language of the radical green movement that is at its core anti-Christian, anti-people, and anti-progress. He has aligned himself with a secular movement that is antithetical to the fundamental theological underpinning of Catholicism — the sanctity of human life and the value of all souls.

The modern pagan green religion in developed nations needs to be denounced by the Vatican. These are the people and organizations that have come to believe that an excessive number of human beings is destroying Mother Earth.

The Vatican’s warning that we are witnessing “great cataclysms” of weather events is contradicted by scientific evidence. The number of hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, typhoons, monsoons, earthquakes, floods, freezes, and so on are not on the rise, as even the government’s own data confirms. The Pope has been snookered. And the best way to counteract death and destruction from severe acts of Mother Nature is through economic development.

This is why the Pope’s missives on Capitalism and income inequality are so misguided as well. Catholics, of course, have a moral responsibility to care for the poor and disadvantaged. But the greatest vehicle for alleviating poverty and deprivation is the very institution of free market Capitalism that he now denounces. ...

This embrace of governmental action that underlies many of the Pope’s statements would not lift up the poor, but condemn them to more poverty and less freedom. Consider the climate change fanatics’ agenda. They seek cap and trade policies, carbon taxes, regulations against the use of cheap and abundant fossil fuels. These are all regressive forms of taxation that hurt the poor among us the most.

What is the theological case for telling those in the poorest villages of the planet where people still live at subsistence levels, that they have a moral obligation to save the planet by staying poor and using less fossil fuels, less energy and electricity? Cheap and affordable electric power is the most basic antidote to fighting extreme poverty, disease, malnutrition, and human deprivation – and should by celebrated by all humanitarians.

What the Pope should tell the world’s Catholics is this: if climate change is a threat, the best antidote is not to empower heavy-handed and incompetent command and control governments to try to combat it, but rather allow free people to employ their wealth, technology, ingenuity, and creativity – to find ways to head off catastrophe. If, God forbid, the United Nations or Greenpeace is to be our salvation, then we are doomed.

Francis should be a saver of souls. Free people and free enterprise should be left to save whatever ails the planet.
