Pope John Paul II on his ski trip

The skiing Pope

Above, Pope John Paul II in skiing apparel preparing to descend Mount Adamelo, Italy, on a two-day vacation in 1984. It is the first time in History we have a Supreme Pontiff on the slopes. Below, Cardinal Wojtyla, who in 1968 had already adapted himself to the fashions of the modern world, in two different shots at Mount Kasprowj, Poland.

One would say that the one billion faithful in the Catholic Church would deserve to have a better model of Our Lord Jesus Christ as His Vicar on earth...
