Buddha statue in Australian Cathedral
In Sacred Heart Cathedral in the provincial city of Bendigo in Australia, a Buddhist statue, above, has been displayed since late April and is scheduled to remain there for three months. The wood art piece was made by local sculptor Ben Wrigley and is called Transcendence. He defined it as one of the five "wands" he made. The other four are exposed in another Catholic institution in Bendigo, St. John of God Hospital.
In Buddhism, the "magic wand" symbolizes a tool for invoking divine energies during rituals, representing the spiritual power to connect with the sacred and facilitate transformative experiences.
Catholics from Bendigo have written to Bishop Shane Mackinlay, fourth row below, protesting this statue and asking for the removal of the blasphemous art work (here and here). So far, the Bishop has replied with amiable emails, but has not removed the statue.
If we compare the colors used in the sculpture and the ornaments around it, it looks similar to a statue of Buddha Maitreya, second row; if we compare the closed position of the eyes, it reminds us of the Buddha in meditation, third row.
This example of idolatry promoted by a Catholic Bishop inside his Cathedral is another rotten fruit of the Conciliar Revolution that aims to destroy the Catholic Church.
