Pfingsten 2026 1

Charismatic dancing shakes German world

The commemoration of Pentecost – Pfingsten – in 2026 was a pretext for a festival of dancing inside Catholic churches across 30 different cities in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Tyrol. They were performed by the Loretto Community, an Austrian charismatic group inspired by Medjugorje.

The dancing inside Vienna's Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary and St. Rupert, above, set the tone for the other cities to celebrate Pentecost in like fashion for two days, May 22 to 24.

The dancing 'celebrations' also took place during Masses, according to what we could infer from the somewhat confused videos (here, here and here) posted by the Loretto Community.

It is a jesting piety, the new look of a tolerant religion that imitates Protestant revival shows to attract the youth. It has nothing more to do with authentic Catholic piety based on recollected prayer and penance, and carrying our daily cross following in the steps of our crucified Redeemer.
