Miracle of the Holy Face
TIA,
Today (Jan 6th) as we celebrate the Traditional Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord JESUS, we also celebrate... "The Great Public Miracle of the Holy Face," occurring on the THIRD DAY of the 3 Day exposition of the RELIC of Veronica's Veil, in St Peter's Basilica, in Rome.
On that day, the previously faint image of JESUS' FACE on the Veil became distinctly visible, glowing with a soft light, appearing lifelike, with a death-like hue and deep sunken Eyes expressing GREAT PAIN!
The miracle lasted 3 hours. from Noon until 3 p.m.. It was witnessed by the Canons of the Basilica and a large crowd of the faithful. It was documented by an Apostolic Notary and recorded in the official daybook of the Vatican Basilica.

Single Mothers & Their Daughters
Dear TIA,
Ave Maria Purissima !
Photographs from inside an industrial school in Ireland are rare so I am grateful to Mr Kennelly, a photographer from County Kerry in the south west of Ireland, for these images and insights. The school in question is the Nazareth Industrial school in Tralee, a rural town but one with some industry based on agriculture. The Sisters of Mercy ran this school which was managed by Sister Enda, a Sister known to be a strict disciplinarian focused on the salvation of the souls of the girls in her care.
These girls came from the County Home in Kerry, where unmarried mothers were sent to give birth. There were also girls sent to the home for other reasons, playing truant from school, not attending to their religious duties, behaving in a manner which placed them in moral danger and generally, not being under the control of good and wise parents. These were the girls of the undeserving poor, those who were poor through their own fault.
Sister Endfa believed illegitimate girls should not be released back into the world, as they would repeat the sins of their mothers. As a result, every year she accompanied several girls to the two Magdalene Laundries in Cork, that run by the Good Shepherd Sisters and one run by the Irish Sisters of Charity. Sister Enfda accompanied these girls in a car which had curtains on the windows so they would not be contaminated by the world. She would pray the Holy Rosary with them all the way along the four hour journey.
She had a great devotion to Our Lady, especially her purity which made Sister particularly intolerant of these girls conceived in such dreadful circumstances and with Satan ever present. The ages of such girls ranged from 12 to 15 and it was most likely they would never be released from the laundry or indeed ever ask to be released such was their awe of the good Sisters.
I must say that in my experience such girls were much naughtier and more wicked than girls born in wedlock. I had to punish them more frequently and more severely and Sister Enda did the same and made no apologies for it and for that, I admire her greatly. So many Sisters caved in and offered half apologies for the treatment of children in the industrial schools.
Those girls who were not illegitimate were trained to be good mothers and housewives but before that, to enter service in the great country houses of the county. Service was a safe job for girls. They had no time off so they could not get into mischief. Their mistress guaranteed they would ensure their girls performed their Catholic duties. In fact the only time off they got was time to attend Holy Mass and Devotions.
The training of girls for domestic service was simple. Cooking, cleaning, polishing, dusting. They needed to be trained in unquestioning obedience, respect for authority, respect for their betters and for property. They also needed to be taught that it was God's Holy Will that the nobility are rich and other people are poor, so there could be no hint of bitterness or rebellion in their behavior.
Mr. Kennelly the photographer visited the industrial school around Christmas time and there is a photograph of girls attending a concert given by the boys of Saint Joseph's industrial school, in which my two brothers served as Christian Brothers. In this photograph I like the uniforms of the girls, their school crests and the look on their faces which indicate they are being raised in a spirit of sacrifice. There are two photographs of girls in domestic training dressed as maids in preparation for their release under license from the school. The girls remained under the guardianship of the Sisters until age 21 and if there were any complaints from a mistress about their behavior or work, they could be returned to the Sisters and sent to a Magdalene laundry.
Finally we have a photograph from the nursery. Here we see a number of very young girls at play, all with the exception of one with very serious faces. Play was not allowed in the industrial schools except for one hour on Christmas Day so these toys were taken out specially. They are expensive toys no doubt donated by wealthy donors to the Sisters. I do not approve of the two girls straddling the toy horses or the Sister playing with the dolls’ house. I do approve of her strap which indicates that girls of this age were disciplined strictly. The Sisters considered play to be idleness and always Satan was present.
The other photographs show girls learning Irish dancing, a most modest form of dance and busy sewing in their workroom.
I hope you enjoy these photographs.
God bless you and all who work with you in such a good endeavor.
Yours sincerely,
C.P. Ireland

The great media is not reporting some important achivements of Ukrainian Secret Service (USS) in Moscow. Indeed, on December 26. 2025, Lt. Gen. Fanil Sarvarov was killed by a car bomb remoted detoneted when he was leaving his residence in Moscow. He was in charge of training the Russian soldiers for the war in Ukraine.
Exactly one year before and in the past April 2025 the USS killed with car bombs two other highly placed generals.
It is a quite remarkable performance of the Ukrainians and a symptomatic vulnerability in the Russian military security system.
