Iron Dome Wearing Out…

Dear TIA,

Salve Maria,

This is just a reminder that last year, the Washington Post - considered one of the three major newspapers in the US (the others being the NY Times and Wall Street Journal) - reported that Israel's Iron Dome was nearing exhaustion and could fail within 10-12 days.

This was on June 17, 2025, only four days after the initial strikes which occurred on June 13, 2025. On June 22, the US bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities, and a peace deal was brokered on June 24. Hence the name given to the June 2025 Israel-Iran conflict, "The Twelve Day War."

This 10-12 day limit can be useful to remember now. The US/Israel have been in active war against Iran since February 28, and Iran began their retaliatory strikes against Israel the same day. Today is Day 11 of the conflict; we may see escalation in violence the next few days as a result of Israel's Iron Dome's likely failure, considering last year's conflict.

     In Jesu et Maria,

     S.B.

Enlightening Exposé

Dear Professor Guimarӑes,

On your exposé about the current situation on the article: Choosing between Pharisees and Sadducees and strong spiritual response.

I just wanted to express my truly and deep appreciation for the Light you shed over the current darkness.

The work of TIA has infinite value. For myself, I know, it gives me so much strength to continue in the battle on whatever I do in my little corner.

May God continue blessing and strengthening TIA.

I place you in the arms of Our Holy Mother.

Cannot thank you enough.

External or Internal Forces?

Dear TIA,

It’s striking that in your response to Professor V.S.N., in respect of the stance of TIA, the metaphors you instance rely on external forces coming to the rescue in France and Spain.

By contrast, at the Passion of Christ, it was an external evil force, not internal forces, that brought about His death. It was another virtuous external force, namely Almighty God, that ultimately ‘defeats’ that evil external force by means of the resurrection.

Consequently, it follows that TIA’s essentially ‘passive’ stance requires an external force to do the ‘heavy lifting’ in the defeat of the internal forces that are destroying the Church, in order to bring about the Church’s restoration.

Yours in Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

TIA responds:

Dear N.S.M.,

Thank you for taking the time to read Mr. Guimarães’ response to that distinguished Cambridge professor, and to articulate your criticism.

As the old saying goes: omne exemplum claudicat – every example has something imperfect. So, yes, when he used the metaphors of France and Spain being invaded by external enemies and compared them to the invasion of the Church by Progressivism, although their precedent of resistance to the invaders is very pertinent, the weak point of those metaphors was that both countries were saved by external enemies.

In the other example, the Passion of Our Lord, His Crucifixion and His Death were inflicted by the Pharisees and Sadducees, who were dominating the Synagogue and led it to apostasy, similarly as Progressivism does today. If you want to consider these two currents as internal – since up to that time they represented the official religion – or external – since they could be considered as apostates who infiltrated and the true religion constituted by those few who remained faithful to the Old Law – it is up to you.

The only point in your criticism that actually matters, but does not seem to correspond to good doctrine, is when you state that Our Lord was resurrected by an “external force,” Almighty God. The Resurrection, according to Catholic doctrine, was effected by the Three Persons of the Trinity operating as a unified divine agent. Our Lord predicted clearly that He would raise Himself when He said: “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” (John 2:19). So, neither the Trinity nor the Word was external to Jesus Christ.

Finally, on the “passive” stance of TIA: We have fought to expel the progressivist usurpers and to restore Holy Mother Church and Catholic Civilization every single day to the best of our capacity for 24 years, but we know that the victory will come from Our Lady and Our Lord. It is a common saying in History: “The warriors fight and God gives the victory.” Is this a passive position?

Is this supernatural help an external force to the Church? Is not the Catholic Church only one in Heaven, Purgatory and on Earth?

     Cordially,

Holy Week Preparations in Spain

Dear TIA,

As Holy Week approaches many large cities and small towns in Spain are preparing for their sumptuous ceremonies.

I thought you would enjoy reading about these preparations from an article from last year, but still very timely.

     Best regards,

Holy Week in Spain: Semana Santa Brings the Sacred to a Small Town

Robert Ransley

Massive, gilded floats carry statues of Christ and the Virgin Mary through narrow streets.

Locals carry these floats as an act of faith, fulfilling family traditions and personal promises. The silence of a candlelit procession, the raw emotion of a lone saeta (lament) echoing through the night, and the deep sense of belonging make small-town Holy Week truly unique.

In Spain, Holy Week is not merely a spectacle or just another religious event, it is a time of profound faith, history and identity. It is a centuries-old tradition rooted in medieval Catholicism and woven into the very fabric of daily life, whether celebrated in a large city or a small town. In cities such as Seville, Cordoba or Malaga, the display is grand, drawing thousands of visitors – including well-known participants like Antonio Banderas – who come to witness the majestic processions, the world-renowned brotherhoods, and the stunning religious imagery.

Especially in small towns across Spain, Holy Week or Semana Santa in Spanish, is much more than a religious tradition. It is a deeply rooted cultural experience that unites entire communities. For centuries, these towns have meticulously prepared for Holy Week, blending solemn devotion with artistic expression. The urban celebrations also are deeply rooted in history and devotion, yet their scale, marked by large crowds, media coverage and an almost-theatrical atmosphere.

Brotherhoods and sisterhoods – or cofradías – organize the processions, carrying the sacred statues, adorned with rich drapery, on the shoulders and backs of devoted townspeople, many fulfilling personal vows or acts of penance. The larger floats, once fully loaded and adorned, can weigh up to 2,000 lbs! Marching bands follow behind and add solemn music to the event which will come to a halt and fall silent if an acapella saeta (a spontaneous lament sung by one person), breaks out in the crowds lining the streets.

I have lived in the southwestern Spanish town of Los Santos de Maimona in the province of Badajoz for over 20 years and more than 40 years on and off in different cities in Spain. Los Santos de Maimona is a small rural agricultural town of approximately 8,000 souls, and many, from all walks of life, are members of different brotherhoods. It is as if there is this invisible network running throughout town. Among them are Miguel Angel Canseco, known to his friends as “Mickey,” and Manuela Montaño.
