Prince Alois Blocks Abortion Bill
TIA,
Some hopeful news: Prince Alois of Liechtenstein has used his veto for the first time in his reign to quash a bill aimed at bringing abortion laws in line with much of Europe.
The legislation was approved by Liechtenstein’s Parliament last month after the presentation of a citizens’ initiative signed by roughly a quarter of the nation’s voters.
The news left campaigners furious, calling for the Prince’s ouster. There is still abortion in Liechtenstein but it is on limited circumstances such as woman’s life is in danger or a pregnancy as result of a rape. So, it is not a complete victory. But it is something.
Congratulations, Prince Alois, for your courage to stand up against the boisterous pro-abortion leftists!

Trick or Treat?
Dear Dr. Horvat,
Ave Maria!
I am forwarding this with a question: Is this historical account of Halloween accurate? Thank you!!
God bless you, In Maria,
E.Z., Ph.D.
Dr. Horvat responds:
Dear Dr. E.Z.,
Ave Maria Purissima!
Yes, the information in the article you cite seems to be historically correct. However, in my view, it lacks the Catholic spirit, which tries to discern what is good and bad in Halloween (here), and admire the Hallow’s Eve customs of Catholic countries in the past, with the aim of reviving those good customss as part of the liturgical year (here and here).
Of course, the Satanic night that has emerged in the United States – and through its influence in Latin American and European countries as well – should be denounced and eschewed (here).
These articles can help you to better understand the Catholic sense of All Hallows’ Eve.
I hope this is of help to you.
In Maria,
Marian Horvat, Ph.D.

Immoral Ballerina
Dear TIA
Ave Maria Purissima!
I found the Prima Ballerina sculpture in Poland to be quite disgraceful and a dreadful insult to the Most Pure Virgin Mary. This is a near occasion of sin and God alone knows how many boys and men have been corrupted by it.
Ballet was condemned by many in our Church Hierarchy over the decades. The tight dresses, the immoral and suggestive postures and the prolonged closeness of man and woman make ballet a most undesirable form of dance for all good Catholics. When it comes to dance only certain folk dances are suitable and truly innocent.
Yours faithfully
C.P., Ireland

‘You Are Wrong about St. Alban’
TIA
Re: The martyrdom of St Alban
I wonder if the picture you show of St. Amphibalus baptizing converts is really a picture of St Nicholas saving The Pickled Boys. The angry men behind the barrel seem to be the outraged people who were going to sell the boys.
Also the city in Hertfordshire is VERULAMIUM. Not as printed in your post.
I.H.
TIA responds:
J.H.,
The two pictures
have certain similarities, but they depict different scenes.
Indeed, the picture titled "Amphibalus baptizing & teaching the people" on our article was taken from The Life of St. Alban, written and illustrated by Matthew Paris (died 1259). It is in the public domain and can be found on Wikipedia here.
It is one of a series of pictures on the life of St. Albans by Matthew Paris, a Benedictine monk who died in 1259 AD. Here is another one drawn in the same style that portrays his martyrdom.
Thank you for pointing out the correct name of the city. We will make the correction shortly.
Cordially,

Westminster Weaponized the Rosary
Apostolic Greetings to the Best Online Catholic Website +
In your 'what people are saying' section, I noticed a posting from a London person (GM) about a recent Rosary Crusade. I live in London and decided, after careful reflection, not to participate in this Conciliar event. As a counter-revolutionary Catholic, I did not wish to give my witness to this crusade, convened and organized as it was by the ultra-progressive Westminster Diocese. B999_M811_Lon.html My thinking on this matter was shaped by two influences.
Firstly, I had read an excellent piece on the TIA website by Doctor M. Hovat about the late Pope Benedict XVI "The 'Reconciliation' of the Two Benedicts". In this piece, Doctor Marian suggests that "Benedict XVI intended to use 'overtures of reconciliation' purposed to oblige traditionalist Catholics to “reconcile” with Vatican II and the New Mass and thus help finish-off resistance to the Conciliar Church".
I agree with Doctor Hovat's assessment, for it is my experience here in London, that the clergy of the overbearing Conciliar regime will stop at nothing to deviously silence the voice of the opposition of traditionalist Catholics in order to breakdown resistance to Vatican Two. Devious tactics used to achieve this end include the weaponisation of the Rosary.
Secondly, I decided not to participate in this Rosary Crusade after taking account of the words of Saint Paul from the first reading 20th Sunday after Pentecost - "See therefore, brethren, how you walk circumspectly: not as unwise, but as wise: redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore become not unwise, but understanding what is the will of God".
It is my view that many traditional Catholics (here) no longer try or are even willing to try to walk as circumspectly as our circumstances require for the defence of the true faith of our fathers as Saint Paul advises. Consequently, many Latin Mass Catholics are not wise to the devious machinations of Conciliar Clergy locally.
I would suggest that those who recently rushed onto the streets of London to do the bidding of the local Novus Ordo regime, however well-intended, did not walk wisely or redeem the times for that matter. Satan is very clever and very devious in his efforts to eliminate true Catholicism. Being seen on the streets at his behest, Rosary beads jangling, isn't always necessarily the best way to go. As important as the Rosary is and as personally devoted to it as I am on a daily basis, it should not take precedence over our religion!
Here in London, the Diocese of Westminster is overwhelmingly Novus Ordo (and homosexualized). This includes the priests of the London Oratory Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary involved in planning the recent London Rosary Crusade. The priests of this congregation give-off the appearance of being 'Traditionalists' but in fact are fully behind Vatican Two and, as such, play an important part in supporting the progressive Westminster Diocese in striving to break down resistance to the Vatican Two man-made Church. The recent London 'Rosary Crusade' is such an example of how Conciliar clergy manipulate (most) Catholics through the Rosary.
As a counter-revolutionary Catholic, I do not intend to allow myself to be manipulated by Conciliar forces into showing support for their ghastly regime in deploying the Rosary as a hook. I can just as well pray the Rosary at home.
What is your view on these important matters?
Sincerely in Christ+

Re: St. Francis' Stigmata
Blessed Feast of Christ the King!
Thank you for posting such a wonderful writing from St. Bonaventure on St. Francis' stigmata. It was very encouraging.
Let us pray for Saints like this for our own day.
Best,
