The Real Sheen, Not a Saint

Dear TIA,

In light of the announcement that the Vatican has confirmed the beatification of Fulton Sheen, it may be opportune for you to remind your faithful followers, the remnant Catholics, who this bishop truly was.

He was a modernist and an ecumenist to the core, and moreover an admirer of Teilhard de Chardin.

One of the principal reasons why the Catholic faith is now in such a heartbreaking state is the widespread loss of discernment and the unwillingness of many to educate themselves, preferring instead to rely upon revolutionary sources.

The factory of saints has simply produced another figure of the same kind.

Pants Do Not Fit Catholic Morals

Ave Maria Purissima!

With reference to a current discussion on the subject of women wearing pants, may I say that I consider this practice is indeed sinful.

The woman's body should not only be covered but its form and shape must be concealed. Otherwise we are an occasion of sin and will almost certainly be the cause of men having sinful thoughts and feelings.

We should remember the body of the woman was made by God to be attractive to men, to arouse certain passions in men which would lead to the marriage act and with the Grace of God procreation. We must therefore be extremely conscious of the need for modesty both in dress and behavior.

We know from the message of Our Lady at Fatima how sinful the flesh can be and how sins of the flesh are the most deadly and lead to everlasting punishment in Hell.

The standards of Mary-like modesty are readily available to view on the internet. My own view is that no flesh should be visible even in the warmer months. It is quite easy to dress with total modesty and yet remain cool in Summer. Skirts and dresses should reach down to the level of the socks and tops should be loose, at least two sizes larger than the real size. Tight fitting clothes must be avoided at all costs.

In Church I wear gloves so only my face is visible and indeed my veil covers either side of my face, further reducing the visible flesh.

We must learn again to be humble, not to stand out but to be barely visible. This is being truly Mary-like in my view. Remember Mary is rarely heard or seen in the Gospels. That too should be our guide today.

Don Ruotolo’s Phony Prophecy

Recently I have come across a priest called Don Dolindo Ruotolo. My family likes him very much and recommends his surrender novena.

Could you please do research on him, if you have not already, and share your opinions concerning him?

Dear MM,

Thank you for the trust you place in us.

We do not have the time to research Don Dolindo Ruotolo in depth, but after a brief perusal of some information regarding him, we can offer a few comments.

He seems to have been devoted to Our Lady and the Rosary which are very good signs. His prayer to Our Lady is commendable: "Mother, I am yours now and forever. Through you and with you I always want to belong completely to Jesus."

There are a few incidents of his life, however, that tarnish his ideological profile.

The website fatherdolindoruotolo.com, claims that he prophesied about Pope John Paul II being a great hero against Communism: "He wrote to Bishop Hnilica in 1965 that a new John will rise out of Poland with heroic steps to break the chains beyond the boundaries imposed by the communist tyranny. On this postcard, he wrote words of consolation for Poland and all the countries suffering under the communist regime. This prophecy was realized in the papacy of John Paul II."

The affirmation that John Paul II ended Communism in Poland is not objective. JPII rather worked to stabilize the Communist Regime of Jaruzelski (here and here); told the Polish people to obey their communist leaders (here); and in his book Catholic Social Ethics Wojtyla borrowed fundamental principles from Marxism (here).

This support for Communism in Poland was consistent with his support for it in Cuba (here, here and here) as well as in Nicaragua (here and here)

He, further, neglected to Consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the stipulation that Our Lady gave for the tyranny of Communism to end (here).

Considering these facts, we see that Ruotolo was wrong in his prophecy portraying Wojtyla as a victorious hero against Communism.

Fr. Ruotolo died in 1970, but he is not known by speaking against Vatican II (1962-1965) in the last years of his life. It is difficult to think that a saint would have seen such Revolution in the Church and departure from the Doctrine and Tradition of the Church without reacting against it.

These are just a few things to consider. Since our information about Fr. Ruotolo is limited, the above observations do compel us to advise caution.
