War Is a Punishment for Sin

Dear TIA

I sincerely hope the Ukrainians carry out the devotion you have told them of, but what bothers me is I don't see a very strong, or any, mention of repentance in the letter.

War is a punishment for sin, and even in Ecuador the people had to change their ways (At least had the intention to) to achieve Mary's intercession.

I don't think that we will truly be able to defeat Russia, or Communism in general, if the Western world does not change its ways.

Russia was not properly consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary because of the sins of the world, and people's refusal to change.

I don't think that Russia will be converted until it's almost too late. (This is just my opinion, formed from the predominant pattern of history and reading about the prophecies for our times.)

And I could very easily be wrong, I keep it in my intentions every day, and I hope more and more people will as well, but I don't think people will truly change until almost every country has felt the scourge of war.

Ephraim Prayer

Dear TIA,

Pax Te Cum Filumina

Thank you TIA for subtly fighting against the modernists. NO to the Vatican II absurdity of not judging one's brother in your Easter greeting text.

During Lent I/we were abused each day by something called the 'Saint Ephraim prayer' : No doubt a fraud and not historical. We had the line "... and judge myself not my brother!" sung over and over! Scary. Not rational. Child abuse. Adult abuse.

'High' Trads

TIA,

Did you see "Traditionalists" from Cathinfo for Legalization of Marijuana?

Here's a shocker, traditionalist Catholic forum Cathinfo owner and the marque main posters are for the decriminalization of marijuana.

Just look in at how they attack anyone opposed to their novelty.

Behold My Mother

Dear Sir/Madame,

I hope this mail finds you well. I ordered the three books of Sr Mariana last December from you good folks. It arrived in good order. Thank you for the relic too. I carry it in my pocket daily.

I believe that this is the age of Our Lady, and as a consequence of that, and of her love and kindness shown to me, I duly attempted to assemble a few words about this, our tremendous Mother.

It's an attempt to describe what she means to me. I share it now with you as we are all called to make her known and loved.

     God bless from Ireland.

     Mark Connolly

.................

Behold My Mother.

"Behold my Mother, Virgin most powerful, Queen of Heaven and Earth,
As beautiful as the rose, as terrible as the dawn, Mother to Eternal Glory, a Temple for Divinity.

My soul fears nought as She draws near, my arms outstretched, for the tenderest of Mothers is here.
Behold my Mother, the cause of my joy, seat of wisdom, wellspring of immense pity.

As gentle as the lily, as ferocious as the sea, as luminous as the sun that clothes her.
To her do I implore, to her do I go, in misery and woe.
The Morning Star that turns all my darkness aglow, a glance from her, serene as the moon, enough to rid me of every foe.

Behold my Mother, wretched man's only triumph, for being Mother to the Inexhaustible Love that rules all things.
To you do I cry, beauty of the world, my life, hope and stronghold. Under your mantle nigh to the tree of Life I find refuge.

Into you're hands, I place all.
To You whose soul doth magnify and whose spirit rejoices in He from Whom all has sprung. It was the Almighty Himself that sent you indeed. To Him be praise and glory be.

I see her face upon the lily, I saw her heralded among the clouds, I heard her voice resound upon the gale, and felt her hearts warmth blaze in a fire.

I cannot be silent, I cannot be still, until to all I have cried, a love for her that doth eternally thrill.

So fear not my soul, let nothing distress, sing out her glories, rejoice in her fiat, recite her Ave, then go and rest thyself upon the lap and love of this most tender Empress."

Church Teaching on Abortion

Dear TIA,

Below are some excerpts by some of the Church Fathers, the Council of Ancrya, and Pope Stephen V against abortion. I got these from here and here with slight edits by myself.

Abortion is murder. Murder is one of the four sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance.

     R.T.

Tertullian
  • “To prevent birth is anticipated murder. It makes little difference whether one destroys a life already born or does away with it in its nascent stage. The one who will be a man is already one.”

  • “In our case, a murder being once for all forbidden, we may not destroy even the fetus in the womb, while as yet the human being derives blood from the other parts of the body for its sustenance. To hinder a birth is merely a speedier man-killing, nor does it matter whether you take away a life that is born, or destroy one that is coming to birth. That is a man which is going to be one; you have the fruit already in its seed.”
Minucius Felix
  • “There are some (pagan) women who, by drinking medical preparations, extinguish the source of the future man in their very bowels and thus commit a parricide before they bring forth. And these things assuredly come down from the teaching of your (false) gods… To us (Christians) it is not lawful either to see or hear of homicide.”
St. Hippolytus
  • “Women who were reputed to be believers began to take drugs to render themselves sterile, and to bind themselves tightly so as to expel what was being conceived, since they would not, on account of relatives and excess wealth, want to have a child by a slave or by any insignificant person. See, then, into what great impiety that lawless one has proceeded, by teaching adultery and murder at the same time!”
The Council of Ancyra
  • “Concerning women who commit fornication, and destroy that which they have conceived, or who are employed in making drugs for abortion, a former decree excluded them until the hour of death, and to this some have assented. Nevertheless, being desirous to use somewhat greater lenity, we have ordained that they fulfill ten years (of penance), according to the prescribed degrees.”
St. Basil the Great
  • “Let her that procures abortion undergo ten years’ penance, whether the embryo were perfectly formed, or not.”

  • “He that kills another with a sword, or hurls an axe at his own wife and kills her, is guilty of willful murder. Not he who throws a stone at a dog, and unintentionally kills a man, or who corrects one with a rod, or scourge, in order to reform him, or who kills a man in his own defense, when he only designed to hurt him. But the man, or woman, is a murderer that gives a philtrum, if the man that takes it dies upon it, so are they who take medicines to procure abortion. And so are they who kill on the highway, and rapparees.”
St. John Chrysostom
  • “Wherefore I beseech you, flee fornication… Why sow where the ground makes it its care to destroy the fruit? Where there are many efforts at abortion? Where there is murder before the birth? For even the harlot you do not let continue a mere harlot, but make her a murderess also. You see how drunkenness leads to prostitution, prostitution to adultery, adultery to murder, or rather to a something even worse than murder. For I have no name to give it, since it does not take off the thing born, but prevents its being born.

Why then do thou abuse the gift of God, and fight with his laws, and follow after what is a curse as if a blessing, and make the chamber of procreation a chamber for murder, and arm the woman that was given for childbearing unto slaughter? For with a view to drawing more money by being agreeable and an object of longing to her lovers, even this she is not backward to do, so heaping upon thy head a great pile of fire. For even if the daring deed be hers, yet the causing of it is thine.”
St. Jerome
  • “I cannot bring myself to speak of the many virgins who daily fall and are lost to the bosom of the Church, their mother. … Some go so far as to take potions, that they may insure barrenness, and thus murder human beings almost before their conception. Some, when they find themselves with child through their sin, use drugs to procure abortion, and when, as often happens, they die with their offspring, they enter the lower world laden with the guilt not only of adultery against Christ but also of suicide and child murder.”
Pope Stephen V
  • “That person who causes to perish by abortion what has been conceived is a murderer."
